Home Telehealth Limited wins another prestigious health
partnering award with its innovative nurse led call centre service.
The third Annual MediWales Innovation Awards was held at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff on 4th November, in the presence of over 100
senior sector representatives. The Awards celebrate the achievements of the health technology sectors in Wales and provide recognition
of the achievements of those companies who have excelled.
The Partnership with the NHS award, for collaboration with the
NHS that resulted in both improved business performance and benefited patient care, was sponsored by GX Design Engineers. The winner was
Home Telehealth Limited (HTL) of Cardiff, for their work with the NHS in the provision of a new concept in healthcare. This resulted in
HTL being used not only as an equipment supplier, but also as a service provider.
The service came into being when Trust Directors decided to use
the services of HTL as a Telehealth service provider rather than purchasing equipment and running its own in-house service.
This included monitoring and reviewing of patient data by our
qualified Telehealth Nurses in the HTL nurse-led Care Centre.
The service brought about an 11.77% decrease in hospital admission,
a 40% reduction in hospital bed days used, length of hospital stays was reduced from 4.8 days to 2.26 days, a 25% Improvement in ‘Quality of Life’
questionnaire scores and a 24.53% reduction in face to face visits of Community Respiratory Team. Additionally GP visits during monitoring period were reduced
by 22.45%, and 36 unplanned hospital admissions were prevented.
David Muxworthy, Director of HTL said "We are delighted to have received recognition from
Wales' premier health association that the Telehealth services we are providing are making a significant difference to peoples' lives and also helping to reduce
cost in health and social care. We hope with the continued support of organisations like Mediwales that we will grow a vibrant and profitable Welsh based Company
in the years to come."
